This film ranks as one of the best movies of the 21st Century. Telling the story of a young mountain girl (Jennifer Lawrence) attempting to locate her meth dealer father who has broken bail and put the family home in jeopardy. Faced with her family being made homeless Ree Dolly (Lawrence) risks the wrath of her tight knit community to locate him. Never judgemental in its treatment of the characters, this film is a low key treat with an astonishing performance by it's young star which earned her an Oscar nomination

A refreshing change from the run if the mill Rom com. The characters are awkward, embarrassing, quirky and ultimately likeable. Jennifer Lawrence thoroughly deserved her Oscar and Bradley Cooper should have got one too. I cheered, laughed, cringed and cried throughout this film. The dance segment is uplifting and hilarious and the film's ending tears your soul. One of my favourite films
