Crooks robbing crooks...not a new twist. Or is it? In the movie, 21 BRIDGES, a valuable cache is stolen with a bunch of cops killed in the process. New York city police detective Andre Davis, played by celebrated actor Chadwick Boseman, is requisitioned to catch the cop killers. The stage is set. Detective Davis' lineage is shown to be NYPD. THE culprits life of crime is disclosed as well. We watch each operate in their own element as the age old game of cops and robbers (with strong performances by Stefan James and Taylor Kitsch) is played once again. Early in the film we get a whiff that something is rotten in the state of New York. What stinks is why we stay to find out. For me, 21 BRIDGES, evoked a number of thoughts and questions surrounding police work. One thing is for sure, if I became a victim of crime I would want Detective Davis on the case.
