Felt like re-hashing of T2 and all of the 'Terminator' films, but not as good. I personally didn't have a problem with either SALVATION and GENYSIS as they held their own within the world of 'Terminator' films (for story and look) ....but this one did hold my attention, and I really didn't like where and what they did with Anorld's character---again GENYSIS did it first and better for handling the passage of time and an older character.
The best part was the opening scene (set-up of the story), for bring something new the series ...but it appears to fallen flat and felt weak in the overall presentation of the film. And I hear it anger some ...but not so much for me, as I could see where they were heading. But again, it fell flat and just a re-telling of T2.
I think Tim Miller is going to need to direct another film before passing judgement on his director abilities ...as 'Deadpool' was awesome and fresh, and this 'Terminator' film felt like only a step-up and too similar to the weakest of the film series ('Rise of the Machines'). Again, my take on his abilities came across as re-hashing with nothing really new or entertaining! McG did better with SALVATION, as Alan Taylor with GENYSIS.
