"While You Were Sleeping" is a masterful movie that perfectly balances both humor and real life struggles. The main character, Lucy Moderatz, played by Sandra Bullock, is a down to earth character that is easy to relate to. The audience is able to feel what she feels throughout the movie. Bullock does an excellent job of adding multiple dimensions to the character. While on the surface Lucy might seem frumpy and disorganized, Bullock brings the character to life through amazing acting. The supporting characters add a great deal of humor to the movie. The Callaghan family dynamic is one that makes the audience think of their own family. From comical family dinners or bursting into family drama at a wedding, the Callaghans experience it all. The plot of the movie truly enhances the character development. With one character being in a comma the duration of the movie, it allows the other character to blossom, while also adding to the complexity of the plot. The quick witted writing draws the audience in to be enthralled up to the last moment of the movie. Overall, "While You Were Sleeping" is a clever, well written and directed movie that is great for all audiences who are looking for a wholesome laugh.
