Arc Raiders has made big promises throughout its development only to fall short of the finish line. The environments are gorgeous and complex, the Ai a decent threat, the missions interesting and diverse and 90% of the players friendly and helpful… so what’s the problem…? The problem is the usual minority of socially unenlightened morons - those that camp with snipers, the teams at exfil zones picking off loaded leavers, the pinnacle of stupidity… those that kill raiders in the first couple of minutes of a session (looting what exactly…?), those that say ‘don’t shoot’, and then shoot, and my especially favourite, I’ve only encountered once… a guy downed by a drone, who I revived, who rewarded me for my compassion by shooting me in the back! We don’t really have to speculate as to his personality in real life, now do we… So what went wrong and is there an easy fix? It’s pretty obvious really - they made a Division 2 dark zone, with no pve only zone. The fix… allow for dual matchmaking a) I can, for example, go to pve version of the Spaceport, or b) a pvp version. Problem obliterated… because Arc Raider developers… I’m NOT taking my best gear in, to attempt a Queen, when twenty seconds into my protracted battle with high level Arc, I’m shot in the back by some idiot who obviously doesn’t have any real friends in the actual world. If something like this isn’t implemented soon, I’m fairly confident the 90% will soon become fed up with the toxic environment and move on to more entertaining communities.
