As a gamer, I am well aware that most adaptations from games are at best watchable, most of the time terrible. This is a welcome exception.
First, it does not try to fit in as many characaters as possible and focuses on only 4 of them. That, combined to a duration of 2h32 allows the movie to explore each character's personalilty and background, staying true to the game.
Albeit a British production, the movie packs a lot of Japanese culture and wisdom. The prominent use of Japanese language could make it be mistaken for a Japanese production (in a good way). Landscapes are unexpectedly stunning.
Finally, the fight choreography is very well-thought, with great attention to details that respects each characters signature moves.
I admit I had low expectations when I picked the movie more out of curiosity than desire to watch, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised.
Highly recommending it to SF fans, good watch for those new to it.
