A science fiction film of considerable intelligence that goes against the grain of so much space action films. The hero, ably played by Brandon Ray Olive, is supremely human, rather than a fighter-jock. His joy at discovering alien DNA-based life is worth the price of admission. However, the film is hampered by an overly austere set design and the puzzling and frankly annoying acting style of mission boss Becker. Still, a fine film with an open-ended finish well suited to the expansiveness of the best sci fi.
