Flawless. I've always been a sucker for concept albums, but "How To Be a Human Being" really stood out to me. This album is an anthology, and each song has its own tone and tells its own story. And the stories they tell are visceral and genuine. It's like we are in those person's shoes, or perhaps meeting them face to face, like the lazy couch potato girlfriend we meet in "Season 2, Episode 2", the mourning military mom in "Youth", and the fame-driven aspiring rock 'n roll star in "The Other Side of Paradise". It allows the listener to see themselves in these human beings. I mean, aren't we already human?
"How To Be a Human Being" is literally one of the best albums I've heard in my life. And after listening to about 2 to 3 songs, it easily became my favorite.
A friend from my college composition class was really picky when it came to music. But we found some common ground when he learned that I liked listening to Glass Animals. So every time we hung out, we'd bump this album and Gooey in the car. The last time I heard a song off of this album, my friend kinda sorta told me that he had a crush on me. But I didn't really catch on until somebody told me so. He literally took me on a date and I didn't know it. He liked me, but he had a weird way of expressing it. That alone made me fall in love with him.
Every time I listen to a Glass Animals song, I always think of him, and how much I regret not telling him that I had feelings for him before he joined the Army. Still, it's nice to listen to.
