I watched this movie many times. It is so camp and so trashy, I love it. Patty Duke was asked about it in many interviews and at first she refused to talk about it. Later she embraced it and was astounded by the fan reactions. Barbara Parkins gave a 25th year annaversy interview, she came off as a moron. Susan Hayword was great, Sharon Tate gave a heartbreaking suicide performance. Martin Millner went on to Adam 12. Lee Grant gave a strange performance, " At night all cats are gray": Huh? Great movie to watch with a pitcher of martinis. A guilty pleasure.

This film should be seen while having a several martinis. An all star cast....really big names....causes one to question why the hell did they ever sign on to this really stupid project. But still, I give it 3 stars. If you are a fan of off beat movies, this is a must see. The film is like Otto Preminger's Skidoo.. A big production whit an all star cast, so bad its good. You have never seen anything like this....trust me. Like a guilty pleasure, There is a 1971 movie called Doctors Wives with a star studded cast that you ask yourself WHY did these big name stars ever agree to do a movie like this.

Sleeze and high camp are the order of the day in this "Medical Drama" In 1971, Gene Hackman beating Rachal Roberts with a rolled up newspaper for having a lesbian tryst is hysterical. As is the scene with Janice Rule dancing to seduce her husband, Richard Crenna, Seems she could only reach an orgasm by taking a shot of morphine and drinking champagne. The film as well as the book by Frank G, Slaughter was meant to be serious. An all star cast really embarrasses themselves. A guilty pleasure if there ever was one.

So over the top it is like a rollercoaster ride. A guilty pleasure, like eating a whole carton of ice cream. The actors chew up the scenery and there are virtually NO good guys. Everyone has awful secrets and sleezy escapades abound.
