Like a modern Brideshead Revisited with a dash of Great Gatsby you follow the main character Oliver into the world of the privileged idle aristocracy. But Oliver is not so innocent. Tapping into their ignorance and insecurities, he inserts himself in the family right next to his obsession - Felix. I loved this bit. But the film takes a twist- and seems to steer off course into a different film. Deaths are quick in succession and mainly off screen in order to provide an ultimate twist which isnt that unexpected. It seems to forego the well earned drama for rushed, cheap narrative tricks, and Sixth Sense plot reveal, almost like a different writer took over. A great movie that could have been fantastic if it had held its nerve, and shown us rather than tricked us.
