Good story in general, but (spoilers!!!)
It felt like the "gift ceremony" was taken from a fantasy book and not a scifi book(was it Christmas on the space station or something? ๐).
Ending was an easy (lazy?) Deus ex Machina.
Some promise for sequel, but author said he's done with that and back to writing...fantasy books!
