This is a superb film, splendidly written and acted, particularly by Ethan Hawkeโs depiction of a Godly man succumbing to despair. The only possible criticism I can imagine is that I thought the transition from Hawkeโs spiritual despair to Travis Bickle-like darkness could have been more convincing. But itโs a minor quibble. A wonderful movie.
