This is a superb film, splendidly written and acted, particularly by Ethan Hawke’s depiction of a Godly man succumbing to despair. The only possible criticism I can imagine is that I thought the transition from Hawke’s spiritual despair to Travis Bickle-like darkness could have been more convincing. But it’s a minor quibble. A wonderful movie.
