As a family we watched this. 35s & 75, male and female. It led to long and explorative conversations…. When that happens you KNOW it’s a great show. Fabulous performances from Carrell and Aniston, especially as Aniston’s character is complicated and volatile. It would have been easy to demonise Carrell’s character - then we could have dismissed the whole drama - but he believes he’s been wronged, believes that he was experiencing mutual consensual pleasure. So the modern problems of social behaviour and interpretation added to the corruption of power and ambition, make an explosive narrative. Throw in some excellent writing and storylines - Billy Crudup is wonderful - and you have something really outstanding. Yes there are some weaknesses. I think Aniston’s relationship with her daughter is hard to get off the page and not believable but…. This is the best thing I’ve seen for years! Oh, & the music in the finale episode? Vivaldi’s 4 seasons - Winter, so dramatic…
