This movie has a great balance of story and fighting and plays out like you are actually playing through character storylines in the game. The quality of the special effects is right on point and the actors make our characters believable. I like the fact that this movie starts back at the beginning and doesn't yet go to the Mortal combat arena. It hints at where the story is going and what characters we will see in the next film but keeps this one exciting enough that you will enjoy rewatching it plenty of times. Warning: As a parent who thinks the rating system is broken R ratings rarely scare me. That being said, there are plenty of deadly finishes and intense/extreme moments. I would not recommend this movie for children under the age of 14. This movie CELEBRATES an R RATING. It was so great to watch a good Mortal Kombat movie. They finally got it right!
