This sickeningly sweet and adorable anime tugs at the heartstrings in some unexpected ways. The animation is lovely and heartwarming, and the show addresses some rather deep and complex subjects in a healthy, non-trope way while still remaining upbeat and wholesome - unrequited love, grief over the loss of a parent/spouse, some classic coming-of-age struggles with relationships, with the inclusion of LGBT characters. Definitely refreshing and one of the best shows I've watched in a while!

The whole premise of the show is getting people together and seeing if they can form an emotional connection without worrying about physical appearances - so why are all the cast members conventionally attractive? There are no average or even ugly people on the show. Yeah, one dude is shorter than the rest of them, but he's still taller than his partner. It was 'fun' watching their relationships evolve - and watching Jessica drink way too much during multiple episodes lends its own cringe entertainment, those parts felt much more real than the rest of the show.
