I was looking forward to this…
Love Nicole Kidman, but her “on stage” Lucy voice was so nasal and forced that it grated on my nerves and distracted me from the scenes. Her “off stage” voice was listless (where was Lucy’s vibrance?). Other than the hairstyle, there was no Lucy in sight. I know Lucie Arnez mentioned they weren’t trying to recreate Lucille Ball; then why bother with the whole thing? The casting was poor across the board except, maybe Ethel’s character. Fred’s character seemed like he was just trying to stay awake. As for the storyline… I didn’t see the need for the movie. I would have much preferred a biopic. I watched from start to finish, but it hurt! Miscast, boring, and unnecessary. Sorry.
If you want to watch the REAL Lucy & Desi love story, watch "Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie" produced by Lucie Arnaz and her husband Laurence Luckinbill on Prime. It's a documentary. It's fascinating AND it's really the true story. Lots of home movie clips. I just finished it and I loved every minute.
