No offence, but IMO people who give this one star just don’t get the story that Naughty Dog were trying to tell.
This is one of the best games I’ve played in my life and one of the main reasons is it made me do things I didn’t want to do just so I could complete the game, or in other words it put me in the characters shoes to the extent that I understood them even though I fundamentally disagreed with their choices. An interesting position to be in when most games never make you think at all about random violence and killing.
I also didn’t mind the death of <spoiler> as, while it was incredibly sad, it drove the whole plot forward and so it was justified from a story telling point of view (again) IMO.
I’m still thinking of this game a year after playing it, which I think is a testament to the story and characterisation as much as everything it gets right technically. It’s a masterpiece on so many levels and I really hope to see a Last of Us 3 some time in the future.
However for now, roll on the tv show :-)
