I was a teacher for more than 30 years, and although I can relate to the good part of "bending/breaking" the rules as Rita does, I find her character annoying.
She is an immature, self-centered, reckless person who pays more attention to her students (who, yes, benefit from that) than to her own children, but there is no explanation, no background story for it.
Some reviews say she is naughty and irreverent and that we should love the show because of that. Really?
Where I live students are quite free to express themselves and be themselves, and they are encouraged to think for themselves. Maybe that is why I did not find the picture they are trying to paint so revolutionary.
You want a good Danish show? Watch "Borgen", and you will see Mille Dinesen as a good actress in a secondary role portraying an empowered woman without being a total psycho.
