Was watching this movie with my wife. As I was watching it, I was enjoying it. Then there were scenes where Reet (the elder sister's) husband mistreating her, and asking her to shut up while he was talking to her brother. Literally, put his hand on her chin and shoved her. Then movie then shifted it's focus to the main characters. As I was watching this scene, I realized, this is probably what the internet and feminists were all worked up about. So about an hour in, I turned to my wife and ask her if she was still interest to continue watching the movie. I didn't want her to be uncomfortable. And her response was, "This is an interesting movie".
So I pointed out to her about what the internet is saying, bla bla bla. And to this, she replied:
This movie is not about them.
Literally, blew my mind. This movie, is literally, not about female movement, it's not about gender equality, it's not about how to treat your spouse, it's not about women at all. This is an adrenaline rush of a movie, put together with a really fantastic group of actors, and it really delivers on what it promises. From the music, to the acting, to the characters they portrait, honestly, if the actors, acting in a movie, can make real life "feminists" this worked up, then don't you think they actually did a really good job? lol.
There are many subtle things in this movie that you have to notice while watching the main characters interact with each other. I enjoyed this movie in the same breath as how I enjoy watching the first Expendables movie. I won't be taking out any life lessons from it, but boy oh boy, was it an enjoyable ride from start to finish.
Was going through some of the other reviews here. Gosh, some of you lifeless people. spamming copy and pasted negative reviews. How free are you, really?
