It really captured the period with its gritty realism I really felt it was the early 15th century, especially the battle scenes were utterly mesmerising as opposing to watching actors dancing with swords who have clearly been choreographed the fight scenes were so very real. I always felt invested in the characters, they were so complex, sometimes flawed, but that is how it should be. The story was clear and engaging and it knew exactly where it was taking you. In particular Robert Pattinson, Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris were exceptional.

In comparison to The King by Netflix, this film is a not so close 2nd. I never cared for the character nor did I ever believe they were in the early 14th century. Its not gritty enough, Robert the Bruce was a complicated man, with ambition and strategy but most of all he was a warrior, Chris Pine played a beige watered down Brad Pitt styled character who I seemed to be more interested in being nice to his wife. very disappointing.

So much wrong with this film. Tom Hardy is clearly not a comedic actor, he butchers most of the funny lines typical of Marvel films, I don't know whether the film was edited till there was nothing left of it, but it doesn't flow well, you don't get a chance to like or care about any of the characters. Worst Marvel film I have seen.

Stunning cinematography and a powerful performence by the lead actress. Very realistic, I actually felt I was in 1970's Mexic. Especially the hospital scene really drew me in.

JJA did what he could to salvage the mess by Johnson

Only one good scene throughout the whole movie, the rest was slow, clumsy and boring. Narrative goes nowhere and fizzles out leaving viewer dissapointed.
