No, it's not perfect but it's a damn good movie and is definitely worth seeing. The biggest weak point, like the 2014 movie, is the plot and character development. IMO, none of the characters (aside from Serizawa) are at all memorable and a lot of their motivations are pretty stupid. I do understand what they were trying to do with the plot but the execution was poor and coupled with fairly weak characters, it just didn't work that well. But the poor plot and characters was quickly overshadowed by the amazing visuals and soundtrack. The monster design was basically flawless IMO, they did a masterful job of staying true to the old films while bringing them into the 21st century with fantastic effects. I'm also very glad the Titans got plenty of screentime in this film, unlike the 2014 film. Overall, its definitely worth the price of the ticket to see on the big screen, even if you aren't a diehard Godzilla fanboy.
