First of all, if you are a hardcore "The Martian" fan, or an "all science in sci-fi has to be correct" kinda viewer, back away from this show. This show is clearly not specifically made for that type of audience. However, it has brought to light basic challenges humans are facing in long distance space travel.
The show focuses on building the characters from five nations, all with different backgrounds. The Chinese female astronaut cast by Vivian Wu caught my eye. The fluent and colloquial Mandarin dialogue is especially sensitive and vividly brings her and her family to life.
