Vivarium was underwhelming. The first 30 minutes were captivating and makes you interested in finding the meaning behind their situation. The movie starts progressing very quickly, but in actuality nothing happens. The characters don't do anything (even though they're given so many clues) and it's the same thing over and over again. The boy screams, Tom digs, and Gemma interacts with the boy as she grows distant from Tom. I was waiting for the last 30 minutes to actually have something interesting, but nope. Following the pace of the movie, it became somewhat expected that nothing would be explained, but I was still shocked it ended that way. They threw in a bunch of clues that were not brought up again or solved in any way -- not even by the characters. Some scenes lasted unnecessarily long to the point where I just wanted them to go back to solving the situation (P.S. they didn't.) I just don't get it. If I was put in this situation, I would be doing everything and analyzing everything I can to escape. They just moped around, which I understand, but still. This movie could've been 45 minutes MAX.
