I'm glad I haven't seen this as a kid. Not only did it not seem funny, the death of Terry Crew's character was pretty disturbing.
However, when I rewatched it today, I had to look up the genre(s). To my confusion, comedy is the first one listed on the Imbd page. Yes, confusion because, I'm trying to figure outs that fits into a comedy movie. (Just a little side note: That's the same reason why I ended up not liking Half-Baked.)
Speaking of 'comedy', I have to mention the jokes. Only the ones towards the end, though. Couple bad jokes with a groin shot and you've got writing that's trying too hard to lighten the mood. Don't get me started on the ending sequence!
All that said, I wouldn't say this has no hope. I just think it would've been better spun as a just crime and sport movie. Let's be realistic: There's nothing funny or whimsical about the movie description. That and this spawned a video game with one of the greatest taunts of all time: Have your Grandma pull the car around!
