Abel Tesfaye's unique ability is to provide songs that fit any vibe, any setting, any time of day. This is an album that does that better than ANY of his previous projects. I'll defend that publicly. After Hours/Dawn FM keeps a similar vibe throughout the tracklist in terms of samples, beats, with a few occasional changes. I feel that Hurry Up Tomorrow is three mini albums, starting off with funk and 80s vibes, transitioning into low-fi slow songs, and finishing with euphoria/reflection and acceptance.
Id say this isn't his best album, but its arguably top 3. I would put this up right behind After Hours as his second strongest.
Im so lucky to be a fan of his work.
