The Divided America:
Very important show, informed about the growth of demagoguery in political parties, focused on Republican and Trump demagoguery.
Criticism: the "musical" accompaniment of this docu-report detracted greatly from presentation, distracting and interfering with hearing the narrative by Fareed.
"(visuals of the attack on the Capital) BANG-CRASH TYPANI...narrative by Fareed partly blanked out by kettledrums, clackers and brass.. visual of House chamber with speakers trying to certify the electoral votes ...BOOM..BLARE..HIGH PITCHED WIND INSTRUMENTS... blotting out any hearing of the speakers... Narrative by Fareed...TAH-DAH-DAH-DAH-CLICK-CLACK-CRASH-BOOM-DRUM ROLL - a few words get through the "background noise" which was very much in the foreground.
When I watch the regular news on Chanels MSNBC and CNN, I find the words of the commentators and panelists are very clear because there is not annoying background noise. When the ads come on, I turn the "mute" on, because the musical background noise is too loud and annoying - I do not mind watching the ads silently, until the news returns. But in Fareed's docu-report, I could not turn it to mute without cutting out the narration, but the extremely loud so-called music blotted out attention to the narration and made it difficult to concentrate on what was going on visually. When ever I attend movies at the theatre which is very rare these days, I take tissues and screw them into my ears, to reduce the sound, which is always turned up to deafening volumes in the theatre even if you sit far up and back in the seats.I think the decibel volumed\ in movies and in TV reports should be monitored and kept to a moderate level -and music should be kept out of documentary reports, as it just distracts and distorts from the reality of what is being shown.
It was a head-achy ordeal to watch this report because of the distracting noise.
