First thing up front: this is a great great tribute movie if you are into Mario merchandise. If you are after detailed story or character development, you can move on.
However if you are like me or my son who played Mario or Nintendo since a kid, do not missed out. Polished, dense plot (not feeling dragged on at any moment) and with a little Miyamoto touch, movie does not feel out of place anywhere, both my son and I found it extremely satisfying. 5 stars from us.
