It's just so bad!!!
I will start with the good, which is the special effects, all look good, but the way they have been implemented means that you can't really appreciate them as much as you should be able too with overly rushed and confusing action scenes.
After that, all you are left with is poor direction, poor acting and even poorer, laboured, dialogue.
The story is the overly done 'humans need to be killed to stop them killing themselves' line, but without the imposing Thanos figure to drive it home.
I'd love to say that the actors made the best of what they had to work with, but even Mark Strong couldn't look good in this and I love that guy.
There is no character development, you don't care about anyone or anything because you aren't given any reason to. There is no sense of real danger or risk involved, so there is no tension as a result.
Worst of all is Lopez, she spends the first 50% of the film just whining and complaining about how she is so clever and everyone should listen to her, the next 40% blundering around, but somehow surviving and then the last 10% we have to believe she just transformed in to a badass mech warrior?!?
Also, if anyone can fill me in on the reason for this forced and tortured chess garbage that was crowbarred in for no real reason, I'd really appreciate it.
Overall, you've seen it before, you seen it done much better and you have better things to do with two hours of your life.
