I am a huge fan of korean dramas. I like the fact that their episodes are restricted to 16 and the cast is limited. Even though the story line is sometimes a bit predictable, their romcoms are the best.
Don't dare to dream is a huge disappointment. The story line is totally blurred. The three main male leads enact their roles well, but still fail to support the almost non existent concept. The main protagonist is Gong Hyo-jin, a literal push over. She is a weather reporter at a popular TV station. She has had a crush on Jo Jung-suk; her co worker for 3 years. Everyone at the work place knows about it. However, Jo Jung-suk totally ignores her and goes a step further and treats her like total dirt. Fast forward 3 years and they both meet again. This time he's diagnosed with breast cancer. Gong Hyo jin helps him by making him aware that he might be ill. Coincidentally both are hospitalised together and develop a bond of sorts. He starts to like her but is too proud to let her know. Meanwhile, Go Kyung-pyo who is Jo Jung suk's best friend bumps into Gong Hyo jin and totally falls for her and her innocence.
Few episodes later Go Kyung yoo and Gong Hyo jin are together. The story takes a twist because Jo Jung suk cannot see them happy together as he suddenly realises he wants her too. He pursues her knowing fully well that she is seeing his best friend. The story is whom does Gong Hyo jin will finally pick between the two men.
By the 15th episode she realises she likes them both!!! She starts off as a confused woman and remains confused till the end. She also eventually falls for Jo Jung suk who treats her poorly for most part of the series. I could not accept how she could not like the second lead Go Kyung pyo who respects and treats her with dignity. He is suave, smart and totally classy in his behaviour, while Jo Jung sun is the total opposite.
Jo Jung suk can act and does his role well. Go Kyung po is the ideal k-drama lead and is nice to watch him as he has substantial screen space.
It's a total drag after the 15th episode. I literally endured the pain to watch through since I had watched the earlier 15 episodes :(
Most k dramas showcase woman as strong personalities, this drama does the opposite, sadly. The men also are showcased as conscientious, again something that is missing here.
Don't dare to watch this drama. It will sure leave you confused 🤐🤐🤐
