I'm a little shocked that I didn't enjoyed it as much as I did with most of his other films. It's a little slower. There's a lack in character building and too many things going on. No explanation to some of the sayings. "Taboo to go into the birth room", "the stones are upset that we are here", etc. The uncle wanted to make him his successor but then also working with the Parrot King who came in much later in the storyline. I felt disengaged 1.5 hr into it. This story is a little like Mary and the witch's flower. The artwork is beautiful, everything else is 3/5.
