This movie is a gem. This is the best effort ever to present a comprehensive history of the the development of New Orleans music in all its facets. The audio and video content is top notch quality, nicely presented. The interviews are succinct and to the point. The pace is a bit rapid but there is a lot of ground to cover the movie does it well.
The performances are timeless and the music is properly placed in the correct cultural perspective. You get a great view of what New Orleans music looks like, sounds like and feels like.
At various turns I kept saying to myself that I hoped they didn't leave out one artist or another. But they covered everyone I can think of that is of critical importance to here history of New Orleans music. Having lived there and played music with some of the folks in the movie I can only say that the movie perfectly reflects what I knew, felt and understood as a local resident and musician.
