As a reader of more than 3,000 SF and Fantasy books this would have to rank in my top 200.
Absorbing and witty, it is a pity it is not part of a series, there could be a lot more to be written of this 'history'.
That it is set in my home town, state, country and planet adds to the interest.
The only niggles were that the date markers used throughout the story could in some cases have benefitted from times being added and twice as many asterisks lost their lives in the creation of the event dividers than was necessary. :)
