Dreary, dull, and dumb. Where the original was grand opera this inept, tone deaf desecration is depressing from frame one. The acting is wooden, the script a self-referential plagiarism of the original, the lighting so dark some scenes are incomprehensible, and, unbelievably, the editing at times confuses cause and effect. If only it were a howler I would have given it a second star for the laughs alone. Instead, it’s a cringe worthy turkey just in time for the holidays.
