If I’m going to be honest with everyone I would have to say it seemed kinda thrown together in terms of storyline. I think she was trying a bit to hard to show African culture but it was just too much it was like every single second in the movie was another music video and although Africans wear paint on their faces, wear animal print clothes and exotic hair styles that’s not their everyday life and there where lines in the songs that kinda got me upset such as “we are all God”...um no I dont think we are all God and that’s kinda being narcissistic because God is so worshiped and appreciated Beyoncé had to go and turn it into herself being God somehow. Also the concept didn’t connect with the lion king beside the part of the voice over of Simba. ANOTHER reason I didn’t really like the film was because was because it’s like a biopic of a celebrity and them only showing the parts of them in movies and on stage( the parts we already know) instead of showing behind the scenes and I say that because the whole film was showing every thing we know African culture to be such as being exotic and over the top while all of that is beautiful it was very one dimensional because we only saw the great colors and dances and not the real life behind it ALSO I would like to say one of these comments said a lot of people rating the movie are biased to like it because the film name and race and they think it’s amazing because it’s surrounded around being black and it was created by Beyoncé and it showcased her family’s wealth which spoiler alert we already know
