A brutal, but strangely gorgeous movie. Great subtle performances, with a decent pace and steady, but anxiety inducing plot advancement. In the modern war movie era, it’s commitment to the reality of death and destruction is disturbingly original, evoking all the senses and causing the viewer to wince at the horrors. A fresh re-telling of society’s wasteful use of humanity despite the individual human spirit that elevates mankind above the animals.
