The 1 stars are from people who refuse to understand the complexities of being a survivor of sexual assault (there is that content so do be warned).
G Rose makes a disclaimer at the beginning of the book that her recounts are to the best of her memory, so God forbid there are inconsistencies and she doesn't "sound" passionate. After being lied to about her conditions, not being properly educated on her growing body and being told to pretend to be a child, yes. She is going to sound a little different. This has nothing to do with DDLG/ageplay, it isn't even pornographic, and that truly says more about you all than anything else. Her descriptions of assault are graphic and shocking, but it is a self written memoir. She also does go into detail about the murder of her mother. Keep that in mind before reading. I also find it concerning that people use words like "fan" to discuss her. She is not a musician, an actress, a politician or any other celebrity. She is a person whose case got lots of media attention and she went from being sheltered to smothered by parasocial attention.
That being said and soapbox aside - it takes a lot of courage to come forward about one's abuse and G Rose does exactly that. If you are looking for colorful and illustrative language- I need to remind you all as adults that this is someone talking about their own life. I suggest doing heavy research on how PTSD impacts the brain because the common complaints are simply symptoms and realities of surviving trauma. xoxo
