This story is about war, reality of war, trauma, PTSD, corruption, religion, politics. This is not a main romance story. Romance is a subplot. This is a gutting, tragic, haunting narrative of two people faced with impossible decisions. The entire part 1 serves world building & an allegory for part 2&3. Part 2&3 had me in tears every other chapter. I will never get over this book. 5/5 for me. The best book I’ve read in 2025. ** after you re-read this book read part 2 first, then part 1, then part 3. ONLY if you have finished it already **
