This movie has always been a favorite of mine and quite possibly the film that made me fall in love with Denzel Washington’s ability to portray a character. But as I am watching it now, considering the climate, my career as ann educator and knowing how the story ends, I am fighting back tears. This is truly America. The classism and lack of regard to human life is suffocating. Beautiful film with a story that inspires while breaking your heart. This is the reality of so many. Everything we are offered and sold in society pushes us towards the pharmaceutical companies. If it isn’t the foods that are filled with preservatives it’s the mistreatment in hospitals and misdiagnoses. They selected the PERFECT people to be in this film! Kimberly Elise and Denzel Washington are top tier!! The scene where they visit the news anchor, the hospital director telling him he filed the wrong paperwork and then him selling his truck… my heart bleeds for us as a human race!!!
