Great game if you are from a generation that was still born with an imagination. No it's not AAA flashy, fancy 3d rendering and effects. The reason is thats not what it's about. Sure, it doesn't look like modern games. However, it is about 25 times more indepth than modern games. The detail and customizability and the feeling of ownership of what you create using the skills you built are what this game is about. It's my guess that anyone here rating it under 4 stars is of the newer generation of gamers. I'll put it like this, Wurm is a computer game for people who know how to build computers. If you don't know how to build a computer there is a chance you don't possess the intellectual skill sets necessary to enjoy the game fully. I can't deny that the player base is lacking but that is in part because they spread it out, they have so many servers, then they added steam servers. It's an unscripted game engine where you can create your own piece of the world however you choose. The more you do the more your skills go up allowing you to do even more things. At lower levels yeah it's grindy, the game makes you earn everything, thats why it's so nice to step back and look at what you have built. You didn't just build a wall, you learned to mine for iron and to using blacksmithig skills to make nails, you learned to cut trees and process them into planks. Eventually you can do it quite quickly, but thats because of all the time and effort you put into it. Plus now they also have archeology, so if I ever stop playing and my deed rots away, anyone that comes there after mind find remnants of my existence even though I'm long gone, that likely not even going to happen in the real world.
