This show is fantastic. Anyone who gives it a 1 star just because of the changes they have made has not read all of the vampire chronicles. Anne Rice even retconned Interview in her later books, anyway! Many of the changes feel very necessary and made to aid the story be told.
As for the big change; the race of Louis, I definitely identify with Louis(who the reader and viewer are supposed to identify most with) the black business man gripping with the growing power of Jim crow than I did with Louis the slave owner. Makes sense to not make your main character a slave owner, in my opinion.
This new Louis is closer in character to the Louis in the books, too. He struggles with a family that does not understand his plight and an overtly religious/mentally ill brother. The death of his brother is the catalyst that sends Louis down his broken path. People forget that the 1994 movie changes this and many other aspects of the book.
In short, this show is my favorite new show of 2022, and it needs to be seen by more people.
