Watched when it was first out and thought was dire...watched again now 2024 and even worse. Humour very much American, think their attempt at Monty Python but gone seriously wrong. A film to watch at 12pm after a night at the pub if NOTHING else is on....seriously so many films you could watch instead. Trying to think of a worse film......

Stunning. Very interesting as you find yourself siding with different characters and their purposes before realising that each are a part of the world, but in very different spheres. Absolutely brilliant. Last time I felt this much moral dilemma was Se7en and Dead Man Walking.

Wonderfully shot, very real and varied emotions of those facing the imminent dangers of war. Those criticising his choices, well he had never been in that situation with huge responsibility before. Not sure many would fair better I'm his footsteps. It's not about perfection, more a film about bravery during incredibly hard times. Very easy to be negative watching the story of someone's life many years later. A very good, intelligent film.
