They/them is a really good movie, one thats very meaningful to LGBTQ+ individuals.
A lot of reviews here are simply so low because they didn't get it, or they're just homophobia/transphobic and frankly their opinion isn't worth much to begin with. The movie has a cast of interesting, fun characters- really good representation in a lot of ways. You actually care about the characters, you want them to survive and you would upset if they die- which most horror movies fail at. There's a lot of moments that painful to watch, painful in the sense that if you are LGBTQ+, or if your loved ones are, you've probably been there. You've probably faced this kind of horror. And yet despite all the transphobic/homophobic/sexist/ect moments... the Ending makes it worth sitting through it. Its important that these horrible things are shown, really- its narrative, its real experiences people have suffered and are currently suffering through, and its so important that its shown, but never in a way that these acts of violence are justified.
The kills are mostly boring, which is the only thing I really disliked about it- but I feel like thats because the movie is More than just a slasher, its an actual meaningful story. I never leave reviews, or comment, but I felt this was too important not to say something. Heavily recommended
