I loved all 5 seasons. The sensitive, balanced, nuanced approach is what makes this Netflix's best. All three actresses who portray the Queen are superb - Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda get their scenes to shine in. Amongst others, John Lithgow as Churchill, Vanessa Kirby and Helena Bonham Carter as the Margarets, Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, Josh O Connor as Charles, and Gillian Anderson as Thatcher are standouts. Lovely dialogues, screenplay, cinematography and an excellent soundtrack across the five seasons.
To those calling the show one-sided and cruel, it is anything but a love letter to the Crown and the members of the royal family - who, despite their scandals, have been shown with considerate sensitivity and neutrality. It doesn't get more human than this. It is the most monarchist tribute by a group of artists who majorly inclince to the politically labour/anti-monarchist ideology of thought.
May we see the consistency in the ultimate season. Bravo.
