Considering the uproar at the time, and that the church itself has stood devided with things concerning Jesus, its like the pot calling the kettle black, or something like that to call this blasphemous...we should not fear art or others rights or interpretations of Jesus, no opinions can change time or Jesus's mission...its a good film, well acted with a good story line...Only weak minds, religion's or beliefs would find this blasphemous, you may not like it as a film, but that's a different matter.
