Little added to the story. Cinderella 's character is flat and boring. Not a good modern message to children to accept abuse without limit in the name of being "kind." Just lazy writing. Only the step-mother got a bit more interesting. And at least costumes were fabulous.

This is the first movie I've ever felt compelled to leave a bad review for. Some people think it's getting bad reviews for being "cerebral" or "challenging." No, in my opinion, it was just a terrible story. There was no reason to care for *any* of the characters. There's no glimpse into anyone's motivations beyond the most superficial. I wasnt drawn into this world with any plausible depictions of life under alien rule. It was just so lazily thought up, like the countdown into the alien underground for example. There was so little imagination as a sci-fi movie. It was like a crappier version of dystopian alien conspiracy movies from the past. But really the biggest sin to me is the fact that everyone's scrambling about while I learn nothing about them beyond the fact that they have this "mysterious" mission against the aliens. At nearly every scene, I wanted to shout "I dont care!" I only stayed until the end because my friend paid for his ticket, so I felt trapped to finish the movie, though I didnt care how it ended. So ridiculous.
