As someone who has not read the book, I thought this movie was incredible. I wish I had read the book before seeing it, but I most certainly will read the book before part 2. This movie is why we go to movie theaters. This was perhaps the most immersive experience I’ve had in a movie theater. The visuals were stunning, the sound was loud but not too loud, and the music by Hans Zimmer really made this movie. The music works hand in hand with the dialogue and visuals to create this world. Many people complained about not enough dialogue or something, but in my opinion the music does so much world building for this movie, we don’t have to have everything spelled out in words as an audience. Many also said it’s too slow or boring. If you enjoy a beautifully made movie that knows how to tell a story without trying too hard to look exciting by using shallow Marvel-esque nonstop action, then you will love Dune. The action scenes are absolutely terrific, and I’m glad there wasn’t too much action or else it’s just a lights show.
This movie was fantastic, and I think was a brilliant, compelling, and artistic way to tell a Sci-Fi story. I will certainly pick up the book soon. And again, Hans Zimmer is the composer, so what are you waiting for.
