I love watching JCW and have enjoyed several of his dramas but this new one has turned out to be a boring saga with the unlikeable, immature character of Cho Sam-dal, played by FL. For me, the episodes are unsatisfying and seem to drag on as the storyline is thin. I mean, what is Sam-dal even doing? I honesty cannot believe how weak, whiny and undeveloped her character is. It's annoying to watch her and Yong-Pil dance around each other, episode after episode, with so many other characters gossiping about them. And when they kissed, it was written as a drunken moment Sam-dal supposedly didn't remember, as her character pretended to have no recollection. To me, the first kiss in a drama is highly anticipated and usually charged with emotion but I felt no chemistry in that kiss or even the eye-locking gaze before it. I'm sad to say that, despite the strong appeal of JCW, the onscreen relationship between leads in this drama is falling flat and not moving me at all. IMO, the characters that do stand out are Ko Mi-Ja, the mother and Cha Ha-Yul the young niece, both well acted. So for those performances + simply having JCW onscreen, I'll give 2 stars.
