Me and my sister absolutely love this album. It was pretty disappointing in 2017 when her album “Witness” came out since it was nothing compared to her albums “Teenage Dream” and “Prism” because let’s be honest, nothing can compare to jamming out to Firework when you’re five years old. And although the songs Swish Swish and Chained to the Rhythm were very good, the album itself was a let down. However when Smile was released I was super excited to listen to it since I had already heard her singles Never Really Over and Daisies previously from the 2019-2020 year. Being a devoted Christian myself it is very hard to find music, let alone an entire album that is clean and has a good message and Smile is definitely a clean album. Messages of happiness and thankfulness pour out of Katy Perry like never before. If you’re a parent contemplating about letting your child listen to it, I would say let them. This is a great family album. This music brings a level of maturity previously unheard of from Katy Perry and the song Smile brings so much happiness to me everytime I hear it. Teenage Dream was all about high school parties and pleasures in life when in reality, life isn’t all happiness and fun. The song Tucked is pure nostalgia, (thank you Dua Lipa) because it sounds like something you might hear from Teenage Dream and Not The End of the World is super captivating and is unique compared to her other songs. Smile is just one of those albums that you just want to listen to over and over again from start to finish because every song is super relatable. This COVID-19 season has been pretty rough for everyone and knowing that there is still hope in the world shown to us through music is special. Each song in this album fits perfectly with each other to create a fantastic storyline that no other singer can deliver to listeners. What Makes a Woman, being the last song in the album, is the soft and peaceful ending of the decade long journey of Katy as she focuses more on her new child and this special era for her is coming to a close as she moves onto motherhood. Overall this is my favorite Katy Perry album and I’m really excited to see what else she has to offer in the years to come. Amazing job and very touching to see a celebrity evolve in such a way. Very well done. 👍
