I thought it was great although Boxer was the only character with real integrity. That he and Zoe didn't end up together is the worst ending and is the reason I didn't love this series. I was all in until the end and it just died for me. Zoe's quest, while enlightening and her initiation into unchartered territory only revealed her as an undeserving hero. So much more satisfying had she have made amends with Boxer. He protected her without her knowing, helped her friends and family, would have done and did, anything for her. She was a cow to him in return and I am left feeling no warmth for her character. the climax had me reeling and intoxicated that after all her harshness towards Boxer, that there was the possibility of her redemption. Something her brother was seeking in the end also. It would have been great to know she realised something her brother was attempting to find. Instead, the reward of a juxtaposition of softness, love and forgiveness was supplemented with some attempt at righteousness for the death of her Father and Brother with ashes blowing inland (not out to sea, as would have the prefered poetic visual) and lacking for the want of a 'boy gets girl' scenario. The worst possible ending for such a great series. Disappointed.
