**SPOILERS**
Honestly, it kind of blows my mind to see such poor user reviews. It goes to show just how brainwashed people are and expect the predictable plots and push for what is mainstream. There is no longer appreciation for the mysterious and captivating. The movie depicts a near-future setting in which Brad Pitt’s character embarks on a mission to Mars to try and communicate with his father who is heading an operation in search of intelligent life beyond the reaches of the outer solar system. The main directive of this mission is not solely to communicate with his father for old times sake, but because it is believed his father’s operation has gone awry and is the direct cause of catastrophic electrical surges being directed and hitting Earth and everything in between. The film depicts hardship, loss, and the anxiety of being completely and utterly alone. It also depicts what our future of space exploration could very well look like from the way space flights resemble airline flights to the way a Moon base shows how huge corporations and franchises (Subway and others) would play a huge part in putting their mark in the age of space exploration. Because that is the reality of that future. As Pitt’s character quoted “We are the eaters of worlds”. Mankind will break free from chains of Earth and extend his reaches to other worlds, and this movie does an amazing job depicting that while reeling you in with an awe telling story of a son’s journey to find closure with his father.
